365 Challenge - Day 65

Evening all!

Walked out of work to a fantastic sunset....but no DSLR. So had to resort to my HTC camera phone. Not happy with the shot, but it is my own fault!

I don't have any settings for the camera phone, except that it reckons it was using an ISO of 228(?!) Post processing - Contrast, and a little vignette.

I am part of a photography community over at http://www.digitalrev.com/. It is a great site, where I upload all my 365 challenge photos, and share with all my followers.

They also have an area called 'The Gallery' where the best, most liked etc. etc. photos get promoted.

Well my lovely followers, yours truely has made it on there! With the photo from Day 62!

365 Challenge - Day 64

Afternoon, on this soggy Sunday (in my part of England at least)

Yup, it is raining. The spring sun didn't hang around for long.

Result.....

Just a simple shot taken from my living room window. The black blobs are some hedges outside. They almost look like people! (as a side note, another site I use and upload to has a spookily similar photo to this, uploaded today as well http://www.digitalrev.com/photo_detail?id=2646175)

Camera - aperture f/2, ISO 200, shutter 1/1600. Post processing - bump in contrast, and a little tweak to the blue colour curve.

365 Challenge - Day 63

Afternoon folks!

Hope you are all having a great weekend so far!

Had a little ride around this afternoon to see what I could find. I found some pylons, trees, and a rusty old boat. Interesting.

Result.....

Shot 1 - I never realised how spooky these massive pylons we have here in the UK are. I found a trail of them, and pulled over. I had to run out to the middle of a field to get under one. They stand ominously tall in the country side, and buzz and hum as an indication of the power they hold. Camera - shutter 1/125, f/10, ISO 200. Post processing - straighten up, crop, contrast boost and vignette.

 Shot 2 - Different angle, same pylon! Camera - f/10, 1/160, ISO 200. Post processing - bump to contrast and brightness, crop.

Shot 3 - Tried to get some dramatic moody ones. Camera - same as shot 2. Post processing - big boost to contrast, turned to mono, and added a slash of black to the lower right hand of the frame to balance out the top left darkness (that was natural)

Shot 4 - Camera - shutter 1/200, ISO 200, f/10. Post processing - turned mono and bumped contrast.

Shot 5 - Tried to get perspective on the cables running between the pylons. Camera - f/10, shutter 1/250, ISO 200. Post processing - crop (to get rid of a thin line of ground) bump in contrast and vignette.

Shot 6 - While riding around I found these line of trees. Lovely. Camera - f/10, shutter 1/250, and ISO 200. Post processing - colour curve tweaked, crop, bump in contrast.

Shot 7 - Little further up the road from the trees was a river. And on the river, and rusting, decaying long boat! Camera  - f/5.6, shutter 1/160, ISO 200. Post processing - bump in contrast, crop, and a vignette added to lighten and focus on the rope.

Shot 8 - A broken port hole on the boat. Camera - shutter 1/500, f/5.6, ISO 200. Post processing - bump in contrast, crop (to bring the window into the middle of the frame) and a vignette.

365 Challenge - Day 62

Evening!

I have a little home photo shoot this evening, with some ladies (friends of my fiancee) As I was setting up the lighting, I used my guitar on a stand to check....

Result.......

Lovely blue! You know I love blue! Anyway, the back light, used to blow out the white, has a blue filter on it. Camera - shutter 1/50, f/14, ISO 800. Post processing - little crop, and bump in saturation.

Favorite picture of February!

Evening.

As February leaves us with distant memories of snow, and March brings with it a hope of spring and summer it is time for me to look back at the last 29 days and pick my favorite photo!

I took a look at my work from last month, and tired to decide the best day first of all.

Day 36. The snow day.

Snow produces such beautiful, full, rounded lighting conditions, particularly for portraits of people. The snow on the ground reflects light up, to chase away those pesky shadows under eyes, and chins. It also acts to diffuse the light, softening it. Basically it is great.

So for me my favorite photo from February is of my fiancee, on day 36.

365 Challenge - Day 61

Hello you!

And hello March!

And hello gate! Outside my house. Little bit abstract tonight. Like I say, you have to take the rough with the smooth with me, and not everyday will be like silk!

Result.....

Camera - f/2.5, shutter 1/200, ISO 800. Post processing - bump in contrast, tweaked the colour curves, and added vignette.
